Paul is a Black Country lad. Born in Wollaston, Stourbridge, he went to King Edward VI Grammar School / College. He then fell into accountancy more by accident than by design. After taking an accountancy foundation course at Wolverhampton Polytechnic, he joined Clement Keys & Co in Dudley as a fresh faced trainee accountant. Paul qualified as a chartered accountant in 1983 while working at Grant Thornton, before moving out of audit and into full time insolvency in 1985. Paul was one of the first crop of people in the UK to pass the Joint Insolvency Examination Board exam in 1990, enabling him to act as an insolvency practitioner. Since then Paul has worked in several medium sized to large firms including KPMG, Mazars, and Mercer & Hole, providing insolvency support to small business owners, before setting up Midlands Business Recovery. Paul has also spent several years 'on the other side of the fence', helping manage ailing businesses - so he truly understands the pressures you are under.
Paul is married with two children, and lives in Coseley. Outside of work, Paul spends his time mountain walking / climbing, playing 5-a-side football, watching the Baggies, and taxiing his children around.
